Green Infrastructure Statement (GIS)
just wales....
Under Planning Policy Wales (PPW) 12, all planning applications must be accompanied by a Green Infrastructure Statement (GIS) to demonstrate how a development proposal can fulfil the duty to conserve and enhance the biodiversity in Wales. The statements must be proportionate to the scale and nature of the proposed development and outline how Green Infrastructure (GI) has been incorporated into the design.
At TEPL, we work closely with LPA ecologist and landscape officer to ensure our GIS align with expectations and deliver practical proposals. Consulting with ecological specialists enables TEPL to produce a comprehensive GIS that meets the statutory requirements. We ensure the development proposal positively contributes to the local and further afield GI networks. Our document set out the ‘Stepwise Approach’, which has been applied and used to inform all development proposals. TEPL coordinate and prepare the planning application with a consideration for overcoming potential constraints.
The proposals have been developed to:
1. Avoid damage to biodiversity and green infrastructure assets
2. Minimize damage to biodiversity and green infrastructure assets
3. Mitigate damage to biodiversity and green infrastructure assets
4. Compensate damage to biodiversity and green infrastructure assets
Additionally, we also prepare landscaping plans that visually demonstrate how GI will be integrated into the development as proposed in the GIS.
