Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEAs)
wales
A PEA is an assessment of the ecological features present or potentially present within a site and its surrounding area in relation to a proposed development. It helps identify protected and priority habitats and species and any ecological constraints, ensuring that potential impacts are thoroughly considered and mitigated early in the planning process.
Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) will often require a PEA to be submitted in consideration of a planning application in alignment with national and local environmental policies and guidance. A detailed PEA that identifies ecological issues at the outset and proposed appropriate mitigation methods can help to avoid any ecological hurdles faced in the planning process.
At TEPL, we work closely with ecology consultants and local authorities to prepare and provide the necessary information required for detailed PEAs.
