Project Overview

Technia Environment and Planning Limited was commissioned by a waste management company to support the proposed expansion of their recycling and waste transfer operations.

The company, which provides high-quality waste management services to both commercial and domestic customers, was exploring opportunities to grow its business and secure investment for future development. Our role was to assess the feasibility of the expansion and deliver the planning and permitting support needed to progress the project.

Our Approach

From the outset, we worked closely with the client to understand their operational goals and ensure the proposal aligned with planning and environmental requirements. Our approach included:

Carrying out market research and identifying opportunities for expansion within the regional waste sector.
Undertaking a detailed feedstock availability study to establish future waste input potential.
Developing a growth strategy and preparing a supporting business plan.
Preparing planning applications and liaising with Local Authority planning officers to guide the proposal through the planning process.
Coordinating Environmental Permit applications and engaging with Natural Resources Wales and Local Authority environmental teams.
Supporting the project with technical services, including drainage design, utility surveying, and services mapping to inform site development.

Outcome

The project successfully secured full planning permission and an Environmental Permit, enabling the client to proceed with the expansion of their waste transfer station. The approvals allowed for increased site capacity and improved operational efficiency, supporting the company’s long-term growth plans.
