Construction of Storage Building and Drying Unit
Town Planning Services for the Construction of a Steel-Clad Portal Frame Storage Building for the Storage of Logs and Woodchip and a Containerised Drying Unit.
Client: Waste Management Company
Service Provided: Town Planning
Project Summary
A recycling and waste management company approached Technia Environment and Planning Limited with a proposal of expanding their operations to include a larger processing facility. This would support both operational efficiency and contribute to the company’s sustainability goals by generating renewable heat for use on-site and potentially supplying nearby facilities on the surrounding industrial estate.
Our scope of work extended beyond town planning consultancy to include interim management support and feasibility analysis.
Our Approach
We delivered a strategic planning approach to enable the sustainable expansion of waste operations. Our approach included:
- Site Appraisal: Assessed the site's suitability and planning constraints to inform a viable development strategy.
- Policy Justification: Prepared a detailedDesign and Access Statement aligned with sustainability and energy policy.
- LPA Engagement: Engaged proactively with the Local Planning Authority to address environmental concerns and secure support.
Outcome
The project successfully obtained full planning permission in April 2016. The approved scheme supports the sustainable expansion of the waste management company’s operations, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to broader environmental and energy efficiency goals.
