Where a site has a history of industrial use, waste disposal or other activities that may have led to ground contamination, a Land Contamination Assessment (LCA) may be required to support the submission of a planning application.

Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) will often require a LCA to be submitted in ensure that the location of proposed developments of not pose risks to human health or the environment and are safe for future occupants.
