Extension of Processing Facilities
Planning Support and Site Feasibility for the Expansion of Recycling Operations
Client: Large-scale recycling operator.
Service Provided: Town Planning
Project Summary
Technia Environment and Planning Limited was appointed by one of the region’s largest recycling businesses to assess the feasibility of expanding their existing processing facilities. The company specialises in the recycling of multiple wood waste streams, including municipal, construction and demolition (C&D) materials.
With demand for their services steadily increasing, the client required additional processing space to futureproof operations and avoid capacity constraints. TEPL was tasked with delivering the planning strategy and securing the necessary statutory consents to support this expansion.
Our Approach
We led the project from the initial feasibility stage through to planning consent, providing a comprehensive and integrated service. This included:
- Detailed site search and feasibility assessments to identify suitable expansion opportunities.
- Planning strategy development to align the proposed extension with local and national policy.
- Preparation and submission of a full planning application for the processing facility extension.
- Support with the discharge of planning conditions to enable timely implementation.
- Ongoing technical planning advice on future development phases and alternative site options.
Outcome
The planning application for the extension was successfully approved and TEPL supported the client through the post-consent phase, including the discharge of all planning conditions.
Following this, we were retained to provide further technical input on the feasibility of future site expansion, a testament to the trust built through successful delivery and sector-specific expertise.
