Planning Consent for Aggregates Recovery Facility

3rd June 2025, 1 minute read

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully secured planning approval at at Bridgend County Borough Council’s Development Control Committee for the construction of an Aggregates Recycling Facility on behalf of Nolan Recycling Limited.

The development includes engineering works to infill and extend the existing site, the installation of an aggregates wash plant to process 200,000 tonnes per annum of construction and demolition waste, landscaping, drainage and ecological enhancements. It will ensure the steady supply of secondary aggregates for use in the Welsh construction sector, contributing towards the growth of the circular economy.

The planning application underwent meticulous review, supported by a suite of supporting documents and technical assessments to address key planning considerations including:

  • Transport;
  • Noise;
  • Ecology; and
  • Visual Impact.

Following a thorough review of the submitted information, all relevant departments and statutory bodies confirmed that they had no objections to the proposed development, subject to conditions.

The application was subsequently presented to the planning committee in late May with an officer’s recommendation for approval and was approved unanimously. This outcome reflects the strength of the technical evidence and supporting information.

We look forward to progressing with the next stages of the development.
